Transitioning from work
Many Americans at least partially associate who they are as a person with their profession. This is no different for retirees, many of whom viewed their career as a significant part of their self-identity. When this piece of their identity is removed, it can leave a void that is not easily replaced.
During this transitional stage, you should keep in mind that you are much more than what you do and that you are entering a time when you can redefine yourself by exploring avenues that give your life new meaning.
